OAKTIE, S.C. - Ohio Men's Golf dropped a close match-play decision to DePaul on Saturday, losing by a final score of 3-2. The event was the first part of Ohio's trip to South Carolina, which also includes competition at the two-day Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate on Monday and Tuesday.
The Bobcats got off to a strong start, winning the first pairing of the day when Paul Grauer (Dublin, Ohio) won one up over Ben Westley. The two teams then split the next two matchups, with Russell Budd earning a one-up win over Bradley Lucas (Worthington, Ohio) and Michael Lamping (Dublin, Ohio) winning one up over Moritz Ackerhans.
With Ohio holding a 2-1 lead, DePaul took the next two matchups to win the contest, 3-2. Jan Jelicher won one up over Byron Firestone (Canton, Ohio) and John Pavelko edged out a narrow one-up victory over Connor Coldwater (Clarks Summit, Pa.).
The Bobcats will next be in action on Monday and Tuesday at the Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate in Hilton Head, South Carolina.
