Women's Soccer Falls 3-0 at Cleveland State

CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Ohio women's soccer team was defeated 3-0 at Cleveland State in a non-conference match on Sunday afternoon. The Vikings scored all of their goals in the first half, led by a two-goal performance from Taylor Vidovic.

Vidovic got Cleveland State (3-2) on the board in the eighth minute after she received a pass from Sarah Zawie. Vidovic's shot from just inside the box beat sophomore goalkeeper Mattie Liston (Lakewood, Ohio).

After the host Vikings added a goal in the 17th minute to make the score 2-0, junior Cathryn Rogers (Etobicoke, Ontario) put a shot on goal that was saved by Cleveland State goalkeeper Becky Williams.

Cleveland State struck for a third goal right before the intermission. Vidovic tallied her second goal of the match with 2:02 remaining in the stanza.

In the match, Ohio (2-3) was outshot 7-5 and was edged 4-3 in shots on goal. In addition to Rogers' shot on goal, seniors Kelsey Pichel (Rochester, Mich.) and Toye Famodu (Bloomington, Minn.) also registered shots on goal.

The Bobcats return home to Chessa Field on Friday, Sept. 9. Ohio will host the reigning Ohio Valley Conference champions, Morehead State. Kickoff is slated for 4 p.m.
