Final Stats

Springfield, Mo. - Ohio Field Hockey received two goals from Jessica Jue and Taylor Brown as it cruised to a 5-1 win over Missouri State in the 2011 MAC opener. The Bobcats held the league's top scoring team to only two shots and won their fourth straight in the series against the Bears.

Ohio fell behind early when the MAC's leading goal scorer, Casey Bayliss, received a pass from Marisa Hendel and slipped it past Jen McGill four minutes into the game.

The Bobcats equalized in the 19th minute when Brown chipped one past the MSU goalkeeper. Nine minutes later, Ohio took the lead when Jue collected a rebound off a try by Andrea Biegalski and fired home her fifth goal of the season.

At the break, Ohio held a 2-1 lead on the scoreboard, a 10-4 lead in shots and a 4-1 edge on penalty corners.

In the 42nd minute, Louzeth Schutte put a try on goal that was saved by MSU's Andrea Bain. The rebound came to Biegalski who fed Jue for her second goal of the game and a 3-1 Bobcat lead. Jue now has six goals and a team-leading nine assists to put her tops on the team with 21 points.

With the Bobcats in control, Brooke Edwards added a breakaway tally to put the game away in the 57th minute. One minute later, Katherine Fenzel delivered a nice touch pass to Brown to close the scoring and give Ohio a 5-1 victory in its first MAC outing of the 2011 season.

Brown is now tied for the team lead with Cathryn Altdoerffer at seven goals apiece. Today marked the fourth time this season that the Bobcats scored five goals or more in a contest.

The Green & White finished with a 23-7 edge in shots but allowed five penalty corners to the Bears in the second half. For the second game in a row, McGill and Brittany Walker combined in goal, with McGill and Schutte recording saves.

The Bobcats open their 2011 MAC home slate next weekend when they host Ball State on Saturday and Miami on Sunday.
