Final Stats

St. Louis, Mo. - Cathryn Altdoerffer and Brooke Edwards each scored twice and the Ohio Field Hockey team cruised to a 7-0 victory over St. Louis this afternoon. Jessica Jue and Laura Mastro added goals and freshman Ashley Cureton scored her first as a Bobcat in the win.

Ohio had the first five shots and penalty corners of the game before capitalizing 11:53 into the game. Altdoerffer scored her first goal of the game when she deflected a try by Andrea Biegalski. The Bobcats continued to pepper the Billiken goal and Jue deflected a Mastro shot attempt into the right side of the cage six minutes later for a 2-0 lead. Three minutes after that, Louzeth Schutte fed Edwards who ripped a shot down the middle for a three-goal Bobcat lead.

In the 28th minute, Ohio would capitalize again off a penalty corner as Jue fed the pass to Jenna Green. The senior defender found Altdoerffer for her team-leading seventh goal of the season and a 4-0 lead. A minute and a half later, Jue streaked down the right side of the field, passed into the middle of the field to an open Edwards, and the senior found the back of the cage for a fifth first-half goal.

Two minutes into the second half, Taylor Brown was denied on a try but Mastro gathered the rebound and fired home for a 6-0 lead. A Mastro try in the 49th minute was deflected by the freshman Cureton for the final goal of the game. Cureton became the 10th Bobcat to score a goal this season.

Ohio finished with an astounding 31-0 edge on shots and a 15-0 advantage in penalty corners. Freshman Brittany Walker saw her second bit of game action this season and played a career-high 10:35. She helped team with senior Jen McGill on the fourth shutout of the season for the Bobcats. This was the fifth-straight win in the series for Ohio.

Ohio opens MAC play tomorrow at noon against Missouri State.
