Mattie Liston recorded a season-high 12 saves, but it was not enough as the Ohio University women's soccer team (2-5) fell 1-0 to No. 22 Ohio State in double overtime Sunday night at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.
Liston withstood 29 Ohio State shots for the game, holding the Buckeyes scoreless for 108 minutes of play.
Liston made six first half saves as both teams went into the locker room scoreless. In the second half, the Lakewood, Ohio native totaled five stops to help send the game into overtime.
In the first overtime session, Ohio outshot the Buckeyes 3-2. Juniors Cat Rogers (Etobicoke, Ontario) and Erin Schwenke (Solon, Ohio) both put shots on goal, but were both turned away by Ohio State goalkeeper Katie Baumgardner.
In the second overtime, Ohio State's Tiffany Cameron scored the game winning goal in the 109th minute of play.
The Bobcats return to action on Friday, Sept. 16 as they welcome Indiana State to Chessa Field. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m.
