ATHENS, Ohio - The Ohio softball team was batting in the bottom of the fourth inning of its Mid-American Conference (MAC) game with Akron when play was stopped due to rain. The Bobcats and Zips were tied at one when play was stopped.
The teams will resume play tomorrow at 11 a.m. at the Ohio Softball Field. Senior Emily Wethington (New Palestine, Ind.) will be the batter and face Akron pitcher Alex Riedeman. The count will be 2-2.
Senior Sara Clark (Ontario, Calif.) gave Ohio a 1-0 lead when she led off the second inning with a solo home run down the left field line. Akron pulled even when Alissa Birkhimer drove a solo shot of her own over the center field wall.
The rain delay began at 2:48 p.m., and after 40 minutes of delay, play was officially suspended at 3:28 p.m.
The Bobcats conclude their six-game homestand Sunday against Akron. Play will begin with the conclusion of game one at 11 a.m. at the Ohio Softball Field.
