CLEVELAND, Ohio-The second-seeded Bowling Green women's basketball team drilled nine 3-pointers Wednesday afternoon en route to a comeback victory over 10th-seeded Ohio 66-57 in quarterfinal action of the Mid-American Conference Tournament in Quicken Loans Arena.

BGSU improved to 26-4 overall and advanced to the semifinals where it will face the winner of the second quarterfinal between third-seeded Central Michigan and sixth-seeded Buffalo. Ohio finished its season at 9-22.

Falcon point guard Tracy Pontius had 15 points and five assists with five boards and three steals, while Chrissy Steffen had 13 and Lauren Prochaska added 10. Maggie Hennegan had a team-high seven rebounds before fouling out with 1:55 remaining.

Ashley Fowler and Kamille Buckner had four assists apiece and Buckner chipped in four blocks to finish her career with a school-record 199 rejections.

BGSU scored the game's first five points, but Ohio led for most of the first half, even building a six-point lead (20-14) on a Benson layup with 8:54 left in the first half that brought about a 30-second timeout from BG head coach Curt Miller. The Falcons were able to chip away, though, and cut Ohio's lead to one (28-27) by halftime.

The Bobcats held strong in the first five minutes of the second half and edge in front again on another Benson layup with 14:27 left to take a 36-35 advantage. However, the Falcons responded with an 18-4 run over the next six minutes, 19 seconds to extend the lead to 13 on a Pontius 3-pointer with 8:08 remaining. Ohio battled, but got no closer than six the rest of the way.

The Bobcats also held a 39-36 edge on the glass.
