Updated Bracket
DEKALB, Ill.-The Ohio wrestling squad saw three of its members advance to the Finals of the Mid-American Conference Championships Saturday of the first day of competition in DeKalb, Ill.
The Bobcats are currently fourth in the team standings with 26.5 points. Central Michigan is first with 50.0 points.
Ohio's Gabe Ramos (125), Nick Purdue (174) and Erik Schuth (197) will all compete in their respective championship matches Sunday after picking up wins today. Ramos defeated Eastern Michigan's Jared Germaine 8-6, while Purdue knocked off EMU's Chris Eggert 7-2. Schuth defeated Buffalo's Brian Sheehan 5-1 and Nick Whitenburg 5-2 to advance in his bracket.
Brad Squire is still alive in the 149 consolation bracket as he defeated Northern Illinois's Vince Castillo 8-4, as is Steve Wilson in the 165 draw by virtue of his 6-1 victory over NIU's Matt Mougin. Jeremy Johnson picked up a pair of victories to stay alive in the 285 bracket as he defeated Buffalo's Brett Correll 4-0 and EMU's David Wade 4-1.
2010 All-American Germane Lindsey, the 141 bracket's top seed, was disqualified due to not making weight at the morning weigh-in.
The final day of competition will begin at noon ET (11 a.m. CT).
