Final Stats

BUFFALO, N.Y.-Kourtney Brown flirted with a triple-double and Bridgette Kendricks did register a double-double as the Buffalo women's basketball team rebounded from a nine-point halftime deficit to defeat visiting Ohio 70-65 Saturday afternoon at Alumni Arena.

UB improved to 15-13 and 8-7 in the Mid-American Conference, while Ohio dropped to 7-21 and 3-12 in the league.

Brown finished with 15 points, seven rebounds and nine blocks to go with Kendrick's 11 points and 12 boards. Nicki Hopkins led the Bulls in scoring with 17 off the bench as all five of her field goals came in the second half and were 3-pointers. Jessica Fortman and Ashley Zuber combined to post 21 points, 14 assists and 14 rebounds as well.

Ohio was led by Tenishia Benson's 23 points (8-for-11 shooting), while Shavon Robinson had 12 (and five assists) and Ashley Fowler and Erin Bailes chipped in 10 each. Kamille Buckner and Symone Lyles led the team in rebounding with six and Tina Fisher added four steals.

Buffalo actually jumped out to a fast start, building a 12-point lead (16-4) on a Beth Christensen jumper at the 11:32 mark. The Bobcats dominated the rest of the half, however, outscoring the Bulls 31-10 to take a 35-26 lead to the locker room when Alesia Howard hit a layup at the buzzer.

The Bulls steadily chopped away at that lead in the opening moments of the second half, though, and regained the lead (39-37) with a Zuber 3-pointer at the 14:13 mark. The lead grew to as many as 11, but Ohio fought back to draw to within one (66-65) on a Fowler 3-pointer with 25 seconds left. Buffalo kept the visitors at bay, however, as the Bobcats missed their last three shots down the stretch.

A key factor in Buffalo's comeback can be attributed to its 16-for-24 (66.7 percent) field goal shooting in the second half, compared to Ohio's 12-for-36 (33.3 percent) clip during that stretch. Brown was held scoreless in the first half, missing all five of her shots from the field.

Buffalo won the rebounding battle 45-37, but Ohio did a nice job in the turnover department, committing just 10, while swiping 13 of the Bulls' miscues.

The Bobcats will be back in action Wednesday at 7 p.m. ET when they host Miami in their regular-season finale.
