The first half was fairly even until the Bobcats pieced together an 8-1 run as the contest neared halftime. After Shields nailed a jumper to tie the game at 24 with 2:35 left, Ohio got two 3-pointers from Erin Bailes and a layup from Benson as time expired to send the visitors to the locker room with a seven-point (32-25) lead.
The Bobcats increased the advantage to eight (37-29) on a Benson 3-pointer at the 16:28 mark of the second half, but the Flashes put up a 14-5 run over the game's next four minutes, 31 seconds to slip ahead 43-42 on a Humes 3-pointer at the 11:57 mark. Kent made another spurt to get control of the game as Chenel Harris made a layup to give the home team an eight-point lead (54-46) with 6:20 left. KSU then hit seven of nine free throws in the final minute to keep the Bobcats at bay.

The Bobcats will be back in action Saturday at Buffalo at 2 p.m. ET.
