HOUSTON, Tx.- The Ohio softball squad dropped the finale of the Houston Hilton Plaza Invitational Sunday by a score of 16-3 in six innings against No. 11 Michigan.

The Wolverines improved to 5-0, while Ohio dropped to 1-4.

Michigan jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first with a Dorian Shaw homer, but the ‘Cats fired back after Jillian Van Wagnen scored on an error.

The Wolverines added six runs in the top half of the fourth and a pair in the fifth to increase the lead to 10-1.

However the Bobcats kept fighting, as freshman Alexandria Basquez recorded a RBI double that gave Van Wagnen her second run scored of the day. Jordan Paden added a RBI single to make the score 10-3.

Michigan responded by plating six more in the sixth for the final margin.

Van Wagnen also posted a pair of stolen bases on the day.

The Bobcats continue play next weekend at the Charleston Southern Tournament in South Carolina against Virginia Tech, Mercer and Charleston Southern.
