-The win moves Ohio to 5-3 on the year. The Bobcats have opened the year 5-3 in each of the last three seasons.
-The Bobcats’ win is also the fourth-consecutive victory over the Zips.
-Ohio held a 23-10 lead at the end of the third quarter. The Bobcats’ own a 5-0 mark when leading after three quarters and are 41-6 since 2005.
-Ohio has posted back-to-back victories at Akron for the first time since the 1995 and 1997 seasons.
-Ohio racked up 556 yards of total offense. The Bobcats have surpassed 400 yards of total offense in six games this season.
-Ohio’s 556-yard output marked the second time this season it has posted 500 yards-or-more of total offense.
- Sophomore quarterback Tyler Tettleton passed for 328 yards, completing 21-of-29 of his passes.
-Tettleton’s 328 passing yards marked the sixth-consecutive game in which he has thrown for 200-yards or more.
-Tettleton also threw a pair of touchdown passes. He now has 17 for the season and his career. His 17 career touchdown passes are tied for 10th all-time at Ohio.
-Tettleton hit senior wide receiver LaVon Brazill for a 78-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter. The play was the Bobcats’ longest play of the year.
-Brazill finished the game with 102 yards receiving. He has now posted 100 yards receiving or more in three games this season.
-Senior running back Donte’ Harden recorded a game and season-high 123 yards on the ground.
-Junior kicker Matt Weller connected on all three of his field goal attempts. Weller has not missed a field goal from 40 yards or less this season.
-Weller’s 23-yard field goal in the third quarter capped Ohio’s longest scoring drive of the season (14 plays, 91 yards).
-Ohio held Akron to just 81 yards rushing as a team. This season the Bobcats have held three opponents to 100 yards or less (Kent State and New Mexico State).
-Freshman Nathan Carpenter recovered his team-leading third fumble of the year.
