Johnson, Schuth Power Ohio Past Bulls

ATHENS, Ohio-Ohio heavyweight Jeremy Johnson defeated Buffalo's Brett Correll 4-2 to give the Bobcats a come-from-behind 16-15 victory over the Bulls Saturday evening at the Convocation Center.

With the victory, the Bobcats improved to 7-3 overall and 2-0 in the Mid-American Conference. Buffalo dropped to 7-6 and 0-1 in the league.

The two teams alternated victories in the first four bouts of the evening, with Ohio's Gabe Ramos and 20th-ranked Germane Lindsey winning at 125 and 141, respectively, while Buffalo's Kevin Smith and 16th-ranked Desi Green took the 133 and 149 matches. Lindsey's win was a 15-5 major decision over Buffalo's Chris Conti.

The Bulls then won three of the next four bouts to take a 15-10 lead with just the 197 and heavyweight classes remaining. However, Ohio's Erik Schuth, ranked 16th nationally, defeated Buffalo's Josh Peters 10-6 and 20th-ranked Jeremy Johnson followed with a 4-2 win to clinch the comeback win for the Bobcats.

Ohio will face 10th-ranked American Sunday at 1 p.m. ET in the Convo.
