ATHENS, Ohio - The Ohio University field hockey team was unable to find the back of the cage for the second-consecutive game, falling on Sunday afternoon at No. 11 Drexel, 1-0.

"It was quite a game from start to finish if you were a fan in attendance," Head Coach Neil Macmillan said. "They saw a team come in, on the road, and test a top-10 team on their home turf for the whole 70 minutes."

With 15 minutes reaming, Drexel's Elizabeth Koch intercepted a Bobcats pass and fed the ball to Preseason All-CAA selection Susan Ciufo. Ciufo chipped in a shot from the left side for the decider.

Ohio dominated play in the first half, out-shooting the Dragons 6-1. Preseason All-CAA goalkeeper Jenna Phillips made two crucial saves on Louzeth Schutte and Cathryn Altdoerffer and Paige Herr had an attempt blocked. Schutte, Brittany Zorn and Brooke Edwards all had chances go wide during a scoreless first 35 minutes.

"I'm really pleased with they way we basically dominated a top-10 team during the first half," Macmillan said. I don't know if they were not quite ready for us but I thought we played exceptionally well. Unfortunately, we couldn't capitalize and get a lead."

Drexel woke up in the second half with 10 shots, seven on goal, as opposed to four shots for Ohio. Schutte had three of her team-high five shots during the second half, having two tries blocked and one saved by Phillips. Ohio's leading scorer Taylor Brown registered her only shot in the 46th minute, but was denied by Phillips.

The Dragons barely out-shot the Bobcats on the day, 11-10, and also held a 7-4 advantage in shots on goal. Goalkeeper Courtney Seiders made six saves to keep the 'Cats in the match. Ohio had a 5-0 lead in penalty corners after the first half, but Drexel finished with a 10-9 edge.

"Our defense is playing really well right now and we have to get some goals to help them out," Macmillan added. "Drexel scored twice against No. 2 Maryland and we held them scoreless for 65 minutes. Our back four and Courtney have been really good for us these first five games."

Ohio remains on the road next weekend when they travel to Bloomington, Ind. for contests against California and No. 17 Indiana.
