COLUMBIA, S.C.-Nationally-ranked South Carolina got goals from Ali Glemser and Kayla Grimsley 40 minutes apart to down Ohio 2-0 Sunday at the Gamecock Courtyard Cup.

Glemser’s goal came at the 38:04 mark on a cross from Grimsley, while Grimsley registered her tally at the 78:00 mark on a strike from the side of the field.

Ohio was outshot 18-10, but both teams fired six shots in the second half. The Bobcats also held a 3-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Ohio midfielder Cathryn Rogers (Toronto, Ontario, Canada) led the team with five shots, including two on goal. Grimsley fired five, herself, including four that were on target.

Bobcat goalie Mattie Liston (Lakewood, Ohio) had another stellar outing, posting nine saves, while South Carolina netminder Mollie Patton stopped three Bobcat shots.

Liston and midfielder Sara Seitz (Englewood, Ohio) were also named to the All-Tournament Team for their performances over the weekend.

“We played better in the second half, especially compared to Friday (vs. Bucknell),” said Ohio head coach Stacy Strauss. “We showed great toughness and our speed of play was much improved. Overall, I think we showed great effort and heart this weekend and that will really benefit us as we continue to prepare for MAC (Mid-American Conference) play.”

Ohio returns home for a Wednesday match against Marshall at 4 p.m.
