CINCINNATI, Ohio- Ohio Track and Field finished fourth at the 2010 Oliver Nikoloff Invitational on Saturday, scoring 79 team points. The Bobcats were led by 23 top-ten event finishes on the day, including a first-place effort in the 5000 meter run by Abigail Swift. Six of the marks achieved during the invitational were Ohio season-bests, highlighting a solid day by the Bobcat student-athletes.
The Green and White finished behind host Cincinnati (132.33 points), conference-rival Kent State (110.33) and Ashland (95). Ohio finished ahead of 11 schools once the invitational was over, notably Dayton, Wright State, Xavier and Robert Morris.
The first Ohio points of the day came in the 400 meter dash, as Danielle Winningham (Barboursville, W.Va.) finished sixth with a time of 1:00.88, earning three points for the team.
Swift (Newark, Del.) followed up this performance with a great one of her own, taking first place (and the ten points that accompany it) in the 5000 meter run with an 18:14.20. This time is the best that has been achieved by a Bobcat in the 2010 outdoor season.

She took third in the long jump competition with an Ohio season-best mark of 5.59m (18-04.00) and placed seventh in the triple jump with her leap of 10.83m (35-06.25 feet), a distance that is the second best achieved by a Bobcat in 2010.
Emily Amendola (Beach City, Ohio) had a tremendous day for the Green and White, earning 14 points in three events. She earned fourth in both the shot put and the hammer throw competitions, also taking fifth in the discus throw. Her hammer toss of 53.53m (175-07.25 feet) was a 2010 Bobcat best while her marks in both the shot put and discus throw currently rank third this season.
Fellow thrower Lauren McCullough (Lancaster, Ohio) also had an impressive showing at the University of Cincinnati. She earned 11 points for the Bobcats in her two events, taking second in the javelin and sixth in the discus throw. Her javelin toss of 38.90m (127-07.25 feet) was also a Bobcat season best.
