ATHENS, Ohio - The Ohio University women's basketball team snapped a five-game losing streak with a 69-56 win over Miami University on Tuesday night, the Bobcats' first home win in February. With the win, Ohio split the season series with the RedHawks and won its sixth-straight home game in the series.

Kamille Buckner (Chicago, Ill.) led the Green & White (7-20, 3-11 MAC) with her third career double-double with a season-high 15 points and 11 rebounds, while Jennifer Bushby (Gahanna, Ohio) added 15 points. Carolyn Barnett (North Chicago, Ill.) chipped in 14 points off the bench, her fourth-straight game in double figures, and Thia Gholson (Louisville, Ky.) scored eight points and grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds while also dishing out a career-best four assists.

The `Cats did a great job crashing the glass, outrebounding Miami (8-19, 6-8 MAC) 45-31 overall, including 18 on the offensive glass, which resulted in 20 second-chance points. The Green and White also turned in a strong defensive effort, recording its 13 th outing where it has held the opposition under 60 points. In addition, the `Cats held Miami's leading scorer, Courtney Osborn to just six points on the night.

After falling behind 45-40, consecutive three-pointers by Barnett gave Ohio the lead for good. The junior wing added another bucket, along with Buckner to push the Bobcat lead to 50-45 with 9:37 to go. Leading 54-51, Ohio went on a 10-0 run to grab their largest lead of the game at 13 with 1:51 in the contest. Four different Bobcats contributed field goals during the decisive stretch, and Ohio closed the game with the same margin of victory.

The Bobcats shot over 50 percent from the field (15-27, 55.6 percent) and beyond the arc (5-9, 55.6 percent) in the second half. Despite struggling from the charity line in the final minutes, Ohio had more than enough juice left to earn the victory, including the plus-14 advantage on the glass and an edge in the turnover battle.

In the opening stages of the game, Miami's Kirsten Olowinski surpassed her scoring average with a quick seven points that staked the RedHawks to a 10-4 lead. Olowinski was one of three MU players to finish in double figures as she finished with 13 points and five rebounds. Ashleigh Brown had 12 points and five boards, while Maggie Boyer also added 10 points

Now trailing, Ohio went on a 10-0 run to take a 14-10 lead at 12:29 of the first half. However, Miami responded with a 13-1 run before Gholson's (Louisville, Ky.) first field goal cut the lead to 23-17 with 7:15 remaining in the stanza. That bucket started a 14-2 Bobcats run. Meanwhile, Ohio held Miami without a field goal from the 8:18 mark until the final field goal of the half, a three-pointer by Briana Dunlap. The triple tied the game, 29-29, as it headed into intermission.

An evenly played first half carried over to the stat sheets as both teams made 11 field goals and turned the ball over 10 times during the first 20 minutes. Buckner finished the half with nine points and five rebounds, while Gholson had five points and seven rebounds and Jenny Poff (St. John's Mich.) dished out four assists and snagged three boards in the first frame.

Ohio will wrap up its third-game homestand Saturday when it welcomes Buffalo to the Convo for senior day. The team will recognize the accomplishments of its two senior players. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.
