Wrestling Wraps Up Action at Hokie Invitational

SALEM, Va. - The Ohio University Wrestling team completed its first tournament of the season Sunday as they traveled to square off in the Virginia Tech Hokie Invitational.

Kyle Ciccarello (South Euclid, Ohio) and Gabe Ramos (Hoptacong, NJ) started things off for the Bobcats in the 125-lb class. Ciccarello went 4-1 on the day, defeating wrestlers from Appalachian State, Iowa State, and Old Dominion, while Ramos finished 1-2.

In the 133-lb class, Gavin Moore (Beavercreek, Ohio), Drew Hammer (Loveland, Ohio), and Jake Wojcik (Homer Glen, IL) competed for Ohio. Hammer and Moore both ended the day 2-2 overall, while Moore finished 1-2.

Germaine Lindsey (Cincinnati, Ohio) battled his way to an impressive third-place finish in the 141-lb class by beating five of his six opponents, including a 3:42 pin in his second match against Tennessee-Chattanooga's Trevor Herron.

Casey Gordon (Dublin, Ohio) posted two wins in the 157-lb class, while Tucker Gregor (Litchfield, Ohio) and Chris Kline (Westerville, Ohio) both finished 1-2 on the day. Kline pinned King College's John Cox in 6:34, but left his third match due to injury.

The `Cats tallied no wins in neither the 165 or 174-lb classes, but Michael Duckworth (Bath, IN) gave a strong performance in the 184-lb class with three wins over opponents from UNC-Greensboro, King College, and Appalachian State.

Ohio ended the day on two good notes in both the 197 and 285-lb classes. Erik Schulth (Spencerport, NJ) won three out of his four matches en route to his third-place finish in the 197-lb. Jeremy Johnson (Broadview Heights, Ohio) and Andy Hartshorn (Reynoldsburg , Ohio) took third and fourth place, respectively, in the 285-lb, winning a combined six matches.

The Bobcats won't hit the mats next until December 3rd when they travel to face Appalachian State. That meet is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
