Final Stats

ATHENS, Ohio - Ohio won for only the second time in nine visits to Kent State this afternoon, winning 3-1 on goals by Cathryn Altdoerffer, Andrea Biegalski and Taylor Brown. Brooke Edwards also added two assists for the 'Cats (7-7, 3-1).

"Our ball movement was excellent and really complemented the way we were playing today very well," Head Coach Neil Macmillan said. "We also scored at the most opportune times of the game. We scored early, we scored late in the half and we scored right after they got back in the game. I'm just very pleased of how we played today."

In the fourth minute, Edwards found Altdoerffer for a quick score that stunned the home team out of the gate. Late in the first half, it was Edwards again setting up an Ohio goal. Biegalski scored her third goal of the season for a 2-0 lead at the intermission. Edwards now leads the MAC with seven assists on the season.

The 'Cats scored on half their shots while the defense kept the Golden Flashes off the board despite allowing seven shots. Goalkeeper Courtney Seiders made two saves for Ohio during the first 35 minutes. The senior goalkeeper matched her season-high for saves in the second half alone and set a new personal best on the year with 13 for the game.

"I thought we did an outsanding job at the back and obviously Courtney had a huge role in that," Macmillan said. "Our short-corner defense was much more solid than it was last week against CMU."

With 13 minutes remaining, Kent got on the board when MAC Offensive Player of the Week Debbie Bell scored her ninth goal of the season to cut the Ohio lead in half.

Now feeling the pressure after two more scoring chances for the Golden Flashes, Ohio had to provide a response. Brown was the Bobcat to do just that, scoring her MAC-leading 10th goal on a high shot that sailed over the head of the Kent goalkeeper. The tally put the Green & White ahead 3-1.

The 'Cats close the first half of conference action in 2010 at home on Saturday against Missouri State The game is slated for a 1 p.m. start at Pruitt Field.
