ATHENS, Ohio - Emily Gruesser scored a hat-trick as Ohio fell on the road to Miami this afternoon, 4-0. With three games remaining in the conference schedule. the Bobcats (9-8, 5-2) are tied with the RedHawks and Kent State for first place in the MAC.

The road defeat today snapped a five-game winning streak for Ohio in the series. The 'Cats, who were shutout during three of their first five games of the season, suffered their first blanking since September 5.

Miami (10-6, 5-2) came into the game leading the league in scoring at 2.86 goals per game and the defense had also posted a MAC-best four shutouts this season with Sarah Mueller in goal. 

Taylor Brown led Ohio with five shots, four on goal, while Brooke Edwards, Cathryn Altoderffer, Laura Mastro and Jenna Green all registered a single shot. Overall, the Green & White were outshot 15-9. The four goals allowed was only the third time this season that Ohio's defense allowed three scores or more in a game.

Ohio had an offensive flurry late in the first half after falling behind 2-0. The 'Cats registered five shots, four on goal, during a 1:09 span of action. Ohio only managed three shots during the entire second half.
