Ohio-Campbell Box Score
Ohio-Bucknell Box Score

BUIES CREEK, N.C.-The Ohio softball team split a pair of games Saturday at the Camel Stampede in Buies Creek, N.C. The Bobcats dropped a morning affair to Campbell 8-6 but rebounded to down Bucknell 5-2.

Junior center fielder Shalene Petrich (Chehalis, Wa.) went 3-for-4 in the Campbell game, while junior first baseman Deanna Hartsough (Santa Ana, Ca.) drove in a pair of runs. Campbell first baseman Lauren Stephan also picked up three hits, while designated hitter DH Karlie Love and shortstop Amanda Miller also posted a pair of RBIs.

Camel hurler Katie Woodcock (1-0) picked up this victory after yielding just two runs on four hits in five and a third innings of relief, with six strikeouts and no walks. Ohio sophomore Melissa Bonner (Kings Mills, Ohio) suffered the loss after giving up two runs on three hits in two and a third innings with a strikeout and a walk.

After an early run by Campbell, the Bobcats roared back with three in the bottom of the first. Hartsough plated two runs with a double to left and, two batters later, sophomore pitcher Emily Wethington (New Palestine, Ind.) registered an RBI single to left to put Ohio up 3-1.

Sophomore catcher Jordan Paden's (Walla Walla, Wa.) RBI-double to left in the second pushed the Bobcats' lead to three.

The Camels came right back with three runs in the top of the third to tie the proceedings, before Petrich's RBI-bunt single scored freshman second baseman Brooke Morgart (Wayne, Ohio).

Campbell took the lead for good with three runs in the sixth and one in the seventh and Bonner plated the final run of the game on a single to left.

Bonner and Hartsough combined for five hits in the Bucknell contest, while Bonner picked up the win on the mound. Bonner pitched all but the final out, giving up two runs on nine hits with six strikeouts and one walk. Wethington struck out the last Bison batter for her second save in as many days.

Shortstop Alyssa Okita, designated hitter Alison Ford, catcher Elyse Colmenero and center fielder Ashley Beans all had two hits for Bucknell. Pitcher Jane Messersmith went the distance for the Bison in the loss, allowing just one earned run on seven hits with one strikeout and five walks.

Hartsough started the Bobcat scoring with an RBI-single to left field before Bucknell knotted the game with a tally in the third.

The Bison got one more run in the fourth and appeared to be on its way to victory as the Bobcats were three outs from defeat when they stepped into the batter's box to begin the seventh.

However, Morgart and sophomore right fielder Paige Kemezis (Hackensack, N.J.) put Ohio ahead when they scored off Bucknell's second and third errors of the inning. One batter later, Bonner posted an RBI-single to short and Paden scored on a wild pitch for the final margin.

Ohio will be back in action next Saturday for a three-game series at Morehead State.
