ATHENS, Ohio - The Ohio softball team dropped decisions to Seton Hall, 2-1, and Elon, 8-1, Sunday afternoon at the Phoenix Classic in Elon, N.C.

Ohio's two runs were scored by Alicia Catlette (Mogadore, Ohio) in game one against Seton Hall and Courtney Waters (Eagle River, Ohio) against Elon in game two.

Catlette scored on an RBI single by Melissa Bonner (Kings Mills, Ohio) in the bottom of the seventh. Waters scored on an RBI single up the middle by Jordan Paden (Walla Walla, Wash.) in the top of the first.

Paden was 3-for-5 from the plate on the day, including going 2-for-3 against Elon. She also had an RBI in the game.

"It was a tough day for us," said Head Coach Jill Matyuch. "We certainly expected more positive results. Nevertheless, we had some bright spots. Jordan had a great day at the plate and Paige gave us strong innings behind the plate."

In game one, freshman Emily Wethington (New Palestine, Ind.) pitched her second complete game of the season. Wethington allowed four hits, two runs and struck out two batters.

In game two, Michelle Sauter (Chehalis, Wash.) and Melissa Bonner (Kings Mills, Ohio) split time in the circle. Sauter started the game as both pitchers saw three innings of action apiece. Both of them allowed four hits and four runs. Sauter struck out one batter, while Bonner took out two.

Ohio's home game against Radford on Wednesday has been cancelled. A make-up date has not been made yet.
