ATHENS, Ohio - Chandra Myers recorded her third double-double of the season with 17 points and 10 rebounds, but the Ohio women's basketball team fell to MAC East leader Bowling Green, 82-67, Wednesday night at the Convocation Center.
Myers (Sugarcreek, Ohio) led the `Cats in scoring for the fourth time this season, connecting on 8-of-11 shots from the floor. She also had two blocks.
Also scoring in double figures for Ohio were guards Quintana Ward (Park Forest, Ill.) and Jenny Poff (St. Johns, Mich.) with 12 points each. Ward shot 50 percent from the floor, connecting on 5-of-10 shots. She was also 1-of-2 from the three-point line and the free-throw line. Poff made 4-of-12 shots from the floor, including a 3-of-8 effort from three-point range. She also had five assists, four rebounds and a steal.
The Falcons were paced by point guard Kate Achter's career-high 27 points and eight assists. Lauren Prochaska scored 21 points and Tara Breske added 17 for the Falcons. Breske and Prochaska also grabbed 13 and 11 boards, respectively.
As a team, the Bobcats shot 42.9 percent from the field and 40 percent from downtown, while the Falcons shot 45.2 percent from the floor and 37.5 percent from beyond the arc. The Falcons scored 22 points off of Ohio's 17 turnovers and grabbed 25 second chance points to the Bobcats' 16.
With the loss, the Bobcats fall to a 15-11, 8-5 MAC record, while the Falcons improve to 22-6, 11-3 MAC overall.
Ohio led by as much as eight points with just more than 13 minutes left to play in the first half, but the Falcons went on a 17-6 run to take a 26-21 lead with four minutes left before the break.
Bowling Green would never surrender its lead, pushing its advantage to 13 late in the second half before extending the margin to its final 15 points, following eight made free throws in the last minute.
The Bobcats will play their next three games on the road to close out the regular season, beginning with a trip to Kent State on March 1.
