Recap |  Box Score

Head Coach Sylvia Crawley
Opening Statement
"I think it's hard to win a game when you turn the ball over twenty six times. I would think it's safe to guess that at least eight of those were from charges. We can't turn the ball over that many times and also not rebound well. We are known for turning the ball over, but we rebound extremely well. We get a lot of offensive rebounds and second chance points to make up for the possesions we lose. Tonight we did not rebound well, we turned the ball over, and we didn't shot well. It just was not typical Ohio basketball."

On the lack of effort during tonight's game:
"I was disappointed with our defense and our rebounding. You do not have to be highly skilled for that, that's just effort plays. Buffalo came out with a lot of effort. Taking a charge is an effort play."

On Wednesday night's game vs. Bowling Green:
"The good thing about this team is they love playing against Bowling Green and that is our next game at home on senior night. They will be ready. This was a disappointing loss, but by late tonight they will have their eyes on Bowling Green for sure. Hopefully we can bounce back."

On Buffalo's gameplan:
"Buffalo beat us at our game tonight. They did everything that we like to do and controlled the tempo of the game. They doubled inside, switched off screens, and played inside-out. That is Ohio basketball and they did a better job of that then we did."

On the team's lack of defensive aggressiveness:
"The last time we played Buffalo we were very aggressive defensively. We controlled the game by our defense and had easy open looks because of it. This game we were not the aggressor on defense. They got open three point looks over and over again. We made the adjustments at halftime, but you just have to do a better job. Typically we defend the three point line very well, we just were not able to get out on the shooters tonight."

Senior Lauren Kohn
On today's loss:
"I think you have to give a lot of credit to Buffalo. They came in here very focused, very intense, very ready to play. We had twenty six turnovers, it's hard to win any game when you turn the ball over that much."

On the absence of Quintana Ward for most of the game:
"It definitely hurts that Q was out. She is a very important part of the team, but I don't that gives us an excuse. We have veteran guards on the team, and we have to handle the ball better, whether or not we have Ward."

On the difference between today and the last time they played Buffalo:
"When we played there, the biggest reason we won was because of our defense. We had great defensive pressure and were forcing them do things they weren't used to, and tonight our defense just wasn't there. It was not intense, we weren't pressuring the ball, we weren't where we needed to be in help side defense. Our defense was what lost us that game."

On their three point shooting:
"Coach always stresses to us to play inside-out basketball. Get the ball inside, establish a presence, and the shots will open up on the outside. I don't think we did a good job of doing that tonight.

On what was said at halftime and how they came out afterwards:
"At halftime, Coach Crawley came in and said "As ugly as that half was, we are only down by four". We have been down before and came back to win games, so we were still positive and optimistic. You have to hand it to Buffalo. They came out fiery and were intense and focused. We made our runs at them and we had our chances, we just didn't capitalize on those opportunities."

Sophomore Jennifer Bushby
On their lack of offensive rhythm:
"I think we play our best ball when we play inside-out, and we just didn't establish that tonight. We didn't get the post the ball when we needed to, and I think we were forcing shots on the outside sometimes."

On the Ohio's 26 turnovers
"They were playing great defense, but I think a lot of them were mental mistakes. We just weren't passing the ball where we should have."
