MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. - The Ohio field hockey team suffered a 1-0 setback at the hands of the Central Michigan Chippewas Sunday afternoon at the CMU Field Hockey Complex. With the loss, Ohio fell to 6-10 overall and 4-3 in the Mid-American Conference, while Central Michigan improved to 4-10 overall and 3-4 in the MAC.

CMU junior Tara Schiltz scored the game's lone goal in the 28th minute, which was assisted by freshman Paulina Lee.

"It was a very disappointing loss today," Ohio head coach Neil Macmillan said. "We were outplayed by a team that was more determined than we were. We have to give Central Michigan credit for playing a good game today and it's a shame we didn't show up as well today as we played yesterday." The Bobcats dropped a heartbreaker Saturday at No. 4 Michigan State, falling 2-1 in double overtime.

The Chippewas held a 10-7 edge in shots, while both squads earned eight penalty corners. Sophomore Louzeth Schutte (Senekal, S.A.) paced Ohio with five shots, while senior Samantha Sandham fired four shots to lead CMU.

Senior goalie Jessie Martin (Louisville, Ky.) made three saves for Ohio, while her counterpart, junior Melinda Curran, stopped two shots in net for CMU.

Ohio and Central Michigan have now split the regular season series, as the 'Cats took the first meeting 4-3 on Sept. 26 in Athens. The CMU win snapped Ohio's six-game win streak against the Chippewas.

Ohio returns to the field next weekend for their final two home games of the season, both against MAC foes. The Bobcats host Ball State on Saturday, Oct. 25 and Miami on Sunday, Oct. 26 (Senior Day). Both games are set to start at 1 p.m.
