WORCESTER, Mass. - The 10th-ranked Ohio field hockey team kicked off its two-game weekend road trip with a 2-0 win over Holy Cross on Friday. The Bobcats have won three straight games and improve to 4-1 on the year. The Crusaders fall to 1-3 with the loss.

The Bobcats set the tone early on in the first half as sisters Rachelle and Estienne Coetzee (Bloemfontein, South Africa) each scored a goal to put the Bobcats up 2-0 for the win. Both goals were scored off penalty corners.

"Capitalizing on corner opportunities has allowed us to be successful again," said Head Coach Neil Macmillan. "It was a team effort that led to Rachelle scoring the first goal and Torrie (Albini) had a great setup for Estienne on the second goal. Our execution is good right now, I'm very happy with that."

Ohio out-shot and out-cornered Holy Cross by slight margins of 11-10 and 7-6, respectively.

"Holy Cross did a great job of pressuring us and created a lot of opportunities for themselves," said Macmillan. "They played a great game. I think the results they've been having so far are not a good indication of where they could actually end up."

Senior goalie Jessie Martin (Louisville, Ky.) made seven saves in goal for the Bobcats. Erin Singleton made four saves for the Crusaders.

"We're very happy with Jessie's performance today," said Macmillan. "As good as Holy Cross played, Jessie played even better. She really led by example."

Ohio will wrap up its weekend road trip on Sunday against Albany at 1 p.m.
