BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - No. 12 Ohio got a late goal from sophomore Marcy Dull (Ephrata, Pa.) to secure a 1-0 win over Indiana on Friday. The Bobcats improve their record to 5-2 while the Hoosiers fall to 4-2.
"I thought it was a well fought game," said Head Coach Neil Macmillan. "If I had been an impartial observer, I would have enjoyed it for the game of hockey that it was. The game could have gone either way and we are very fortunate to have ended up on the winning side."
Dull scored off a penalty corner and assist from senior Torrie Albini (Escondido, Calif.) in the 68th minute of play.
"We set up a corner from watching tape on Indiana," said Macmillan. "Torrie hit the ball nice and controlled down the middle of the goal and Marcy was there to pick it up. The play was well executed. Our corners have been a good source of production for us this year. They are keeping us in these games, if not winning the games for us."
Ohio has out-cornered its opponents 67-34 this season.
The Bobcats made ten shots to the Hoosiers' eight and out-cornered them five to three. Goalie Jessie Martin (Louisville, Ky.) made four saves for Ohio while Haley Exner made six saves for Indiana.
Ohio will continue its weekend competition against No. 5 Wake Forest tomorrow at 2 p.m.
"Going into tomorrow's game, we need to correct some things that Indiana took away from us today," said Macmillan. "They really did a good job of defending us and that's one thing Wake Forest will do just as good, if not better."
