MORGANTOWN, W.Va. - The Ohio wrestling team earned its 16th win of the dual meet season, a 22-16 win over West Virginia Friday night, marking the most wins in a single season in the 10-year career of Bobcat Head Coach Joel Greenlee.

"This win shows that we are doing the right things," Greenlee said. "Our hard work is really paying off and the guys are performing well."

Greenlee had previously led the Bobcats to 15 dual meet wins in the 1999-2000 season, his third as head coach of Ohio wrestling, when the Bobcats went 15-5-1 on the year. West Virginia had received votes in the latest USA Today/InterMat/NWCA Division I Wrestling Coaches Poll after knocking off No. 25 Pittsburgh in their last dual meet action. Friday's meet was the last non-conference event for the Bobcats this season. The Bobcats won the first three matches of the evening and held on for the win.

Ohio (16-6, 2-1) earned five wins in the 10 matches against the Mountaineers but finished with the six-point lead on the scoreboard because of two pins and a major decision victory. Redshirt freshman Jacob Ison (Batavia, Ohio) continued his excellent season as he earned a pin of Eric Connolly in just 1:53 at 165 pounds. Ison moved to 28-9 on the season and is a perfect 10-0 in matches decided by a pin this season. His 28 wins and 10 pins both lead the team.

"Ison is just into it," Greenlee said. "He is going to give it his all and get it done one way or the other. He works hard all the time."

Ison was not the only Bobcat to record a pin on the day, as sophomore Albert Madsen (Strongsville, Ohio) took down West Virginia's Vince Gioiella in 4:08. The win improved Madsen to 8-7 on the season and recorded his second pin in the process.

Freshman Seth Morton (Canal Winchester, Ohio) gave the Bobcats four points on a major decision victory at 125 pounds. Morton earned a 9-0 win over Scott Stuart for his second major decision of the season. He is now 10-12 on the year.

"He's done a great job all year," Greenlee said. "Every time out there he gives a great effort. Every match he's been in has been close."

Ohio also earned decisions from senior Marcus Adelman (Alliance, Ohio) and sophomore Terry Jackson (Uhrichsville, Ohio). The heavyweight Adelman defeated Dustin Rogers by a score of 4-2 for his 11th win in his last 12 matches. He has yet to lose in the 2007 calendar year. Rogers entered the match with 13 wins and only three losses this season.

"I think tonight's win was huge for Marcus," Greenlee said. "Rogers has had some pretty good wins this season. Marcus worked hard, took his shots and got the win."

Jackson defeated West Virginia's Mark Anderson 7-3 at 133 pounds to improve to 12-6 on the year. The current Mid-American Conference Wrestler of the Week has now won three consecutive matches.

The Bobcats lost three matches by three points or less as sophomore Jake Frerichs (Uniontown, Ohio), junior Adam Faires (Glouster, Ohio) and senior Nick Terbay (Dayton, Ohio) were all edged in their respective matches.

Ohio has just two dual meets remaining on its regular season schedule before the MAC Championship. The Bobcats head to Kent State for a 2:00 p.m. contest against the 25th-ranked Golden Flashes Sunday before hosting fifth-ranked Central Michigan next Thursday at 7:00 p.m. at the Convocation Center.
