OXFORD, Ohio - Top-seeded Ohio shut out fourth-seeded Central Michigan, 3-0, Friday afternoon to advance to the championship game of the 2007 Mid-American Conference Field Hockey Tournament. The Bobcats will play the winner of the Kent State/Miami tomorrow at 12 p.m.

Ohio improves to 16-4 on the season as the reigning MAC Tournament Champion. The Bobcats' 16 wins ties for second place in the Bobcat record book for most wins in a single season. Central Michigan ends its season with a 6-13 overall record.

"We played a solid game today," said Head Coach Neil Macmillan. "Our play was consistent throughout the game. It was just a good win. We didn't necessarily play our best, but overall I was very happy. Most importantly, we get the opportunity to play in tomorrow's finals."

Marcy Dull (Ephrata, Pa.) opened up scoring early in the first half with unassisted goal off the pad of Central Michigan's goalie five minutes into the game. It was Dull's 10th goal of the season and gave the `Cats a 1-0 lead that they kept until the second half.

All-MAC second-teamers Torrie Albini (Escondido, Calif.) and Estienne Coetzee (Bloemfontein, South Africa) kept the momentum going in the second frame as the Bobcats scored two straight goals off penalty corners.

Albini extended Ohio's lead to 2-0 with a goal at the 47:05 mark off a feed from Lindsay Schwartz (Lititz, Pa.) from the top of the circle. Albini then assisted Coetzee on a goal five minutes later to increase Ohio's lead to three for the shutout win. It was Albini's 17th goal of the season and Coetzee's 10th.

Ohio finished with 22 shots, including 17 on goal, and managed a season-high 13 penalty corners. Central Michigan took six shots, including three on goal, and was awarded two penalty corners.

MAC Player of the Year Jessie Martin notched her fourth shutout of the season and number eight of her career. Martin (Louisville, Ky.) made three saves in goal for Ohio and picked up her 15th win of the season. Louise Gericke played 70 minutes in goal for the Chippewas and made 13 saves.
