ATHENS, Ohio - Estienne Coetzee gave her squad a first-half lead and Nina Bruno scored the first goal of her career as No. 15 Ohio notched its fourth home win of the season Sunday, 2-1, against Miami.

The Bobcats (12-4, 6-1 MAC) jumped on the scoreboard first and never trailed. Coetzee (Bloemfontein, South Africa) found the back of the net nine minutes into the game and registered her seventh goal of the season. Coetzee was able to tip it in past the RedHawk goalie off a pass from Marcy Dull (Ephrata, Pa.) to put the Bobcats up 1-0.

The game stayed that way until the second half, when Bruno (Chevy Chase, Md.) scored the first goal of her career at the 51:35 mark off a feed from Katelyn Shelley (Ephrata, Pa.), upping the Bobcat lead to two.

"It was kind of a blur," said Bruno. "I didn't realize that I was on the baseline. I think it was a combination of the play leading up to it and the assist from my teammate."

With almost five minutes left in the game, the RedHawks (5-10, 3-4 MAC) put their first and only dent into the scoreboard. Elizabeth Gilroy scored off an assist from Teja Kammler to push the score to 2-1.

From there, the Bobcats preserved the lead and captured the victory for their sixth conference win of the season.

For the game, goalie Jessie Martin (Louisville, Ky.) notched two saves. Her counterpart, Kelsey Dean had one save for the RedHawks. Ohio outshot Miami 11-6 and outcornered the RedHawks 6-1.

"We limited their opportunities very well, until probably the last five or ten minutes," said Head Coach Neil Macmillan. "Prior to that we were playing a good game of hockey and were pretty much in control. We created opportunities and had a lot of stuff going on up front. It was very exciting, especially to see Nina get a goal off the feed from Katelyn. For the most part, I'm very happy with how we played."

The Bobcats will return to action next weekend with two home games. The `Cats will take on Kent State on Friday at 3 p.m. and Missouri State at 12 p.m. on Sunday.
