RALEIGH, N.C. - The Ohio wrestling team improves its season record in dual meets to 11-3 on the season as the Bobcats earned decisive victories over Gardner-Webb, Campbell and South Dakota State Saturday at the Wolfpack Duals.
Ohio earned all three of the matches in impressive fashion. The Bobcats took down Gardner-Webb by a score of 43-9 and followed that up with a 47-6 victory over Campbell. In Ohio's final meet of the event, the Bobcats earned a 35-12 win over South Dakota State.
Six Bobcats posted 3-0 records on the day. Sophomore Larry Reichard (New Albany, Ohio) earned three wins at 197 pounds at the event with two pins and a major decision. He pinned Gardner-Webb's Jordan Lowe in 2:13 and followed that up with a pin of Campbell's Rob Yoder in 2:36. Reichard finished his day with an 8-0 win over South Dakota State's Tyler Sorenson.
Sophomore Terry Jackson (Uhrichsville, Ohio) also went 3-0 on the day wrestling at both 133 and 141 pounds. Jackson won his first match over Gardner-Webb's Rob Tate by a major decision and then earned a technical fall victory over Campbell's Trevous Smith. Jackson finished his day with a 2-0 decision despite wrestling up a weight class at 141 pounds.
Sophomore Jake Frerichs (Uniontown, Ohio) joined Reichard and Jackson with perfect records. Frerichs earned pins in his first and third matches of the day and earned a win via forfeit against Campbell.
Junior Antione Love (Gahanna, Ohio) also went 3-0 on the day as he earned one win apiece via major decision, pinfall and minor decision. Love improved to 16-4 on the season. Senior Marcus Adelman (Alliance, Ohio) also went 3-0 and earned his second pin of the season. Adelman won once by pin, once by major decision and once by forfeit.
Freshman Jacob Ison (Batavia, Ohio) earned his 19th, 20th and 21st wins of the season with a perfect 3-0 performance at the event. Ison earned two pins on the day to improve to 8-0 this season in matches determined by pinfall. Junior Ryan Knapp (McConnelsville, Ohio) went 2-0 on the day with a major decision victory. Freshman Seth Morton (Canal Winchester, Ohio) went 2-1 wrestling at 125 pounds and recorded his first two pins of the season.
The Bobcats enjoy 12 days off and head back to Mid-American Conference dual meet action on Jan. 19 when they head to Northern Illinois.
