Final Stats

HARRISONBURG, Va. - The Ohio field hockey team fell for the second time in three days when it was defeated by No. 18 James Madison 3-0 Sunday afternoon in the JMU Field Hockey Complex.

The Bobcats (1-3) fell behind early after they surrendered a goal 9:44 into the contest, and went to the half trailing 2-0 following another JMU tally at 21:03. The Dukes (3-1) took eight shots in the period.

JMU tacked on an insurance goal at 67:07 off a penalty corner that closed out the day's scoring.

Ohio and JMU were each able to draw four penalty corners, but the Dukes were the only team to convert a chance to a score.

"We were definitely out-played today, especially in the first half," Ohio Head Coach Neil Macmillan said. "I was happy how - in the second half - we competed with them. In the second half we started playing more like we should have all along."

The Dukes' defense limited Ohio to just two shots on goal in the game, and the Bobcats managed only eight total shots. Torrie Albini (Escondido, Calif.) recorded a team-high four shots in the contest, including one on goal. Ohio's other shot on-target came off the stick of Celine McNamara (Lakewood, Ohio).

Bobcat goal keeper Jessie Martin (Louisville, Ky.) made four saves on the day and was credited with all three goals allowed.

"The second half was good," Macmillan said. "Unfortunately we gave them a 2-0 lead, which proved to be insurmountable."

The Bobcats have faced nationally ranked teams in each of their first four matches this year and they will continue that trend this coming week when they take on Indiana in the home opener on Friday, Sept. 8. The Hoosiers began the season ranked 10th in the STX/NFHCA Preseason Coaches Poll.
