Box Score

Muncie, Ind. - The Ohio field hockey team lost its second Mid-American Conference game of the season Friday afternoon by a score of 3-2 at BSU Turf Field. The Bobcats (7-7, 4-2 MAC) have now lost 2 consecutive MAC games since starting conference play 4-0. With the win, the Cardinals (4-9, 3-2 MAC) broke a 14-game losing streak against the Bobcats

Junior Torrie Albini (Escondido, Calif.) scored two goals Friday as the Ohio field hockey team suffered a 3-2 loss at Ball State.

The Cardinals wasted no time getting on the scoreboard. Katie Kloeckener rebounded a shot and found the back of the cage only four minutes into the game to give the Cardinals a 1-0 lead. The Bobcats tied the score at 1-1 with an unassisted goal by Albini off a penalty with less than two minutes left in the first half.

The first half was a defensive battle with both teams only managing to get off two shots apiece.

In the second half, the Cardinals would strike first and regain the lead as Tara Reed scored an unassisted goal off a rebound less than two minutes into the half. Reed went on to score her second goal of the day at 55:35 when she snuck a shot by Ohio goalkeeper Jessie Martin (Louisville, Ky.) that gave Ball State a 3-1 lead.

Albini would add another Bobcat goal off a penalty corner in the closing minute to make the score 3-2.

The Bobcats won the penalty corner battle 7-1, but they were outshot by the Cardinals 12-6. Albini led the team in shots and shots on goal, while Martin had one save one three goals against.

Ohio has now lost two games in a row against MAC competition. The Bobcats return to action Saturday when they visit Miami for a 1 p.m. match-up.
