BLACKSBURG, Va. -- Jennifer Tisevich had hits in all four at-bats, including a two-run triple and an RBI double to lead Ohio to a 7-5 victory over Virginia Tech in the nightcap of a softball doubleheader Wednesday afternoon. The Hokies took the opener 5-3.

Ohio, 17-31 after the split, opened the game two scoring with four runs in the fourth. Michelle Sauter and Maghan Lunsford started the inning with singles. After a sacrifice and walk loaded the bases, the Bobcats gained a pair of runs on a Hokie error by the third baseman. Tisevich followed with a triple to left center to score another pair.

Virginia Tech answered with two runs in its half of the frame. The first came on a solo home run, while the second was unearned after a two-out error.

But the Bobcats came back right away, adding a run in the fifth and two in the sixth. They extended the lead to 5-2 on a solo homer by Sauter, then to 7-2 when Tisevich doubled home Maureen McKelvey, and scored on a single by Robin Miller.

The Hokies tried to rally, hitting a two-out three-run homer in the seventh, but Natalie Armstrong struck out the final batter to end the threat.

In the opener, Virginia Tech struck for two in the first on a single and back-to-back doubles, but Ohio evened the game in the second. Two errors kept the inning alive for McKelvey to triple in a run, then score on a Zoe Heim single.

But the Hokies took the lead for good with two in the bottom of the second and one in the fifth. The Bobcats tallied an unearned run in the sixth, but a strikeout and groundout ended the inning.

Ohio opens a seven-game homestand against MAC West Division rival Bowling Green on Saturday. First pitch is at 1 p.m.
