Final Stats

Columbia, S.C. - Katie Reihmann hit five three-pointers, and Lauren Revesz followed up a 20-point effort with 18 points, but South Carolina held the rest of the Bobcats in check and rolled to a 77-49 victory over the Ohio women's basketball team Thursday in the Colonial Center.

Ohio (2-6) kept the contest close through the first 20 minutes, even taking a lead as the clock dipped below the 10-minute mark of the first half and going to the break down by just nine points, 31-22. The second half belonged to the Gamecocks (4-3), though, as the home team outscored Ohio 46-27 in the second frame.

Revesz (Bridgeville, Pa.), who hit for a career-best 20 points in Ohio's home win against Chicago State on Monday, once again carried the load on the offensive end for the Bobcats. Revesz hit 6-of-9 attempts from the floor, was successful on her only three-point try of the game and converted 5-of-6 free-throw shots before fouling out in the second half.

Reihmann (Marengo, Iowa) went to the break 1-for-1 from behind the arc, but exploded in the second half and finished the game a perfect 5-for-5 from three-point land for 15 points. Emerging as one of the Mid-American Conference's premier three-point threats, Reihmann has hit at least one three pointer in seven games this season. She leads the Cats with 17 over the first eight contests.

The Gamecocks silenced Ohio's top scoring duo of Rachel Frederick (Gibsonia, Pa.) and Simone Redd (Warrensville Heights, Ohio) Thursday. Frederick was scoreless in 18 minutes, while Redd went 2-of-11 from the floor for four points, falling short of double figures for just the second time this season.

Ohio hung around for much of the first half, thanks to a solid showing on the boards. The Bobcats shot just 28 percent (7-25) in the first half, but outrebounded South Carolina 21-17, led by point guard Quintana Ward's (Park Forest, Ill.) four rebounds. Revesz chipped in 12 of Ohio's 22 first half points.

In the second half, though, South Carolina became more efficient on the offensive end, building a lead too large for Ohio to carve into. The Gamecocks hit 17-of-42 (40.5) attempts from the floor in the half and outrebounded Ohio 26-14. Demetress Adams scored all of her team-high 12 points off the bench in the second half.

South Carolina forced 25 Ohio turnovers and scored 31 points of Bobcat miscues. The Gamecocks committed just eight turnovers on the night.

Ohio was outrebounded 43-35 Thursday, allowing 36 points in the paint and 17 second-chance Gamecock points. The South Carolina bench outscored Ohio 56-22.

Domenica Silva (Sao Paulo, Brazil) made her Bobcat debut Thursday after missing the first seven games of the season nursing a hand injury. Silva logged 14 minutes off the bench, kicking in an assist and a rebound.

Ohio continues its three-game road swing this weekend. The Bobcats will travel to UNC-Wilmington on Sunday, Dec. 18. Tip-time is slated for 2 p.m.
