Ohio Game Notes
Box Score GREENSBORO, N.C.- The Ohio University baseball team dropped its second straight game to UNC-Greensboro as the Spartans topped the Bobcats 12-6.
Ohio fell to 2-4, while UNC-Greensboro moved to 9-1 on the season.
The Spartans led right from the start scoring three in the first.
Ohio got on the board with two in the fourth as junior Ben Crabtree (Roxbury, Conn.) opened the inning with a bunt single. Phil Sabatini (Oakmont, Pa.) the doubled to left to put runners on second and third. Both came around to score on an RBI groundout by freshman Jared Willis (Logan, W. Va.) and a double by freshman Ryan Planck (Canton).
UNC-Greensboro then broke the game open with eight runs in the bottom of the fourth as the Spartans pounded out eight hits in the frame to take an 11-2 lead.
The Bobcats came up with three in the fifth as sophomore Bryan Buck (Hudson), who tripled to start the inning, scored on a pass ball. Senior Dan Lunsford's (Mansfield) walked and later came around to score on an RBI groundout by sophomore Crabtree. Ohio scored its third run as Anthony Gressick (Lancaster) came around to score on an error.
Sabatini added an RBI single in the seventh for the sixth Bobcat run.
Sabatini went 3-5 on the day with one run scored and an RBI. Gressick was 2-4 with one run scored and Lunsford was 2-4 with two runs scored.
Sophomore starter Rob Harmon (Villa Hills, Ky.) (0-1) picked up the loss despite going just one inning giving up three unearned runs on three hits. He also walked and struck out a batter.
Jarrett Santos (2-1) came in in relief for the Spartans to pick up the win. He went four innings giving up just one run scattering seven hits.
Ohio and UNC-Greensboro will conclude their three-game series tomorrow with first pitch set for 1 p.m.
