Bobcats Shut Out Emory 5-0 in Softball

2004 Statistics ATLANTA ? The pitching duo of junior Kerri Harley and freshman Natalie Armstrong combined for a two-hit shutout Thursday as the Ohio softball team downed Emory 5-0 at the Emory softball field.
"We had great pitching from Kerri and Natalie today," said Bobcat head coach Roanna Brazier. "I am really proud of their effort."
Harley (3-7) got the start and went five innings, giving up two hits while striking out three. Armstrong went the final two, surrendering no hits while fanning two.
Ohio sophomore Robin Miller was 2-for-3 with two RBI. Senior Georgia Villard and junior Jennifer Hodson also recorded RBI during the contest. Junior Jennifer Tisevich went 2-for-4 in the contest with a double and a triple while senior Kiersten Scrima was 2-for-4 from the plate as well.
After playing three scoreless innings, the Bobcats got on the board in the fourth inning as Tisevich led the inning off with a double and scored on a single by Miller.
Ohio?s led grew in the fifth as the Bobcats exploded for four runs. Scrima started the inning with a single and advanced to second when Tisevich reached on a throwing error. A single by senior Erin Chapman loaded the bases for Miller, who brought home her second run of the afternoon on her second single of the day. A groundout by Villard scored Tisevich and a groundout by Hodson brought home Chapman for the third run of the inning. Miller tallied the final run of the inning on a passed ball.
Ohio opens Mid-American Conference play on Saturday when it travels north to take on Kent State in a three-game series, beginning with a doubleheader on Saturday. The series, which was scheduled to take place at the Kent State Softball Field, will now be played at Viking Field on the campus of Cleveland State University. First pitch for Saturday is set for 1 p.m.
