Freshman Simone Redd led all Bobcats with 12 points and seven rebounds versus Wyoming.

    CASPER, Wyo. ? The Wyoming Cowgirls handed the Ohio women?s basketball team its fifth straight loss, 89-43, in the first-ever meeting between the two teams Saturday night in Casper, Wyo. Freshman Simone Redd (Warrensville Hts., Ohio) led all Bobcats with 12 points and seven rebounds.

    Right from tip-off it was all Wyoming, as the Cowgirls went on a 25-4 run over the first 10 minutes of play. Ohio would answer back with a 16-6 run, narrowing the lead to 12 points, 32-20, at 2:40. The Cowgirls added six more points extending their lead,38-20, to end the half.

    After exchanging early buckets Wyoming took control of the game with a 17-4 run, giving the Cowgirls a 34 point lead, 60-26, at 10:43. Ohio fought back cutting the margin to 28 points, 65-37, with seven minutes to go but the Bobcats spark wouldn?t last as Wyoming would continually distance its self from Ohio. The Cowgirls allowed five points in the remaining minutes and ended the game with a 24-5 run giving them the largest lead of the night, 89-43.

    The Bobcats? 109 consecutive games with at least one three-pointer ended, going 0-16 from behind the arc. Three first year players combined for 26 of Ohio?s 43 points, joining Redd are Lauren Revesz (Bridgeville, Pa.) and Quintana Ward (Park Forest, Ill.), who added eight and six points, respectively.

    Ohio will make one more stop before returning to Athens, as they take on Chicago State, in the Windy City on Wednesday. Tip-off for the first-ever meeting between the Bobcats and the Cougars is set for 7 p.m., CST. Ohio will host Cleveland State before breaking for the holidays, Dec. 19, game time is set for 6 p.m.
