For the fourth straight time in the series between the Ohio and Kent State football teams, the visiting team came away with the victory as the Golden Flashes claimed a come-from-behind 37-33 win over the Bobcats at Peden Stadium on Saturday.The Bobcats (2-7, 1-4 MAC) wasted no time in finding the end zone in the first quarter. Following a three-and-out by Kent State to begin the game, Ohio drove 63 yards in five plays to take a 6-0 lead. Sophomore running back Brad Young had a 31-yard carry during the drive and capped it off with a 19-yard touchdown run with 11:13 left in the opening period. Matthew Miller failed to convert the extra-point kick.The Golden Flashes (4-6, 3-3 MAC) fumbled on the first play of their next drive and Bobcat linebacker Matron Church recovered the ball at Kent State?s 38-yard line.Ohio then moved the ball 38 yards on seven straight runs, finishing the drive with a seven-yard score by sophomore Phillip Fountain at the 7:08 mark. Following a Greg DiMarino extra-point kick, the Bobcats led 13-0.The Golden Flashes put points on the board with a 26-yard field goal by Travis Mayle before the first quarter was over. On Kent State?s next drive, however, a Joshua Cribbs fumble was recovered by linebacker Dennis Chukwuemeka at Ohio?s 47-yard line.The Bobcats then used a 14-yard run by quarterback Ryan Hawk and a 36-yard completion from Hawk to Stafford Owens to set up a one-yard scoring run by Ray Huston to take a 20-3 lead early in the second quarter.Kent State responded with a six-play, 71-yard drive capped by a 16-yard run by Cribbs for a touchdown to make the score 20-10 with 11:51 remaining in the second quarter.Ohio struck right back when Huston took a pitch from quarterback Adam Porter and sprinted 41 yards down the left sideline to finish an eight-play, 69-yard drive.The Golden Flashes completed the first-half scoring with a Cribbs five-yard score at the 5:20 mark to make the score 27-17 in favor of the Bobcats.Following a DiMarino 26-yard field goal on the first drive of the third quarter, Kent State?s Jon Drager returned the ensuing kickoff 51 yards to Ohio?s 45. Six plays later, Cribbs found Antwan Smith for a 33-yard strike to pull the Flashes within a touchdown at 30-24 with 8:02 left in the period.The Bobcats settled for 27-yard DiMarino field goal later in the third quarter and carried a 33-24 lead into the final period.Cribbs rushed for this third touchdown of the game ? this time for four yards ? early in the fourth quarter to pull Kent State within a field goal at 33-31. The Golden Flashes then took their first lead of the game on another Cribbs score, a seven-yard sneak with 1:29 left in the game to make it 37-33.Ohio?s final drive ended with a Hawk pass sailing out of bounds as time expired.For the game, the Bobcats gained 274 yards on 58 carries and 168 yards on 10-of-12 passing from Hawk. Kent State rushed 36 times for 168 yards and put up 283 passing yards, 250 of which by Cribbs.Ohio travels to Akron for a noon game next Saturday and then returns to Athens for a 2:30 kickoff against Miami on Nov. 22.
