ATHENS, Ohio ? The Ohio football team used four quarterbacks on Saturday but it was Miami signal-caller Ben Roethlisberger who stole the show, leading the 18th-ranked RedHawks to a 49-31 victory in the Bobcats? home finale at Peden Stadium.

Roethlisberger, a junior from Findlay and a leading candidate for Mid-American Conference Player-of-the-Year honors, completed 19 of 28 pass attempts for 294 yards and four touchdowns before leaving the game with a 49-10 lead at the end of the third quarter.

Ohio (2-9, 1-6 MAC) scored 21 unanswered points in the fourth quarter, highlighted by an 83-yard strike from Austen Everson to Anthony Hackett. It marked the second-longest pass play in school history.

Everson was the fourth Bobcat quarterback in the game, following Ryan Hawk, Fred Ray and Adam Porter. The freshman from Brentwood, Tenn., connected on nine of 19 attempts for 182 yards, including the 83-yarder with 9:00 to play.

Ray Huston scored on a 12-yard run earlier in the fourth quarter and Chris Jackson completed the scoring on a two-yard run with 4:10 remaining.

Roethlisberger took little time establishing himself in the first half, hitting Martin Nance for a 33-yard scoring pass just 1:48 into the game. Miami?s second score came when Ryne Robinson returned a Bobcat punt 70 yards for a 14-0 lead at the 9:01 mark of the first quarter.

Ohio responded with a nine-play, 65-yard drive capped by a one-yard run by Hawk with 4:15 left in the opening stanza.

The RedHawks (10-1, 7-0 MAC), who had already clinched the MAC East Division title and a MAC Championship Game appearance, held a 35-10 lead at halftime. Following two more touchdowns in the third quarter, Miami led 49-10 before the Bobcats mounted their fourth-quarter spurt.

For the game, the RedHawks held a 28-21 advantage in first downs and a 495-334 edge in total yards. Ohio won the turnover battle 3-0, recovering two Miami fumbles and intercepting a Josh Betts pass in the fourth quarter.

The Bobcats will finish their season Friday with a noon game at Marshall.
