    MT. PLEASANT, Mich. ? Ray Huston rushed for a career-high 124 yards and scored on a pair of runs as Ohio defeated Central Michigan, 34-3, Saturday afternoon at Kelly/Shorts Stadium. The win was the first of the season for the Bobcats and the first under head coach Brian Knorr.

    Ohio (1-4, 1-2, 0-1) posted its highest rushing total of the season with 342 yards. Dontrell Jackson and Stafford Owens contributed to the total with 64 and 62 yards, respectively.

    The Bobcats capitalized on good field position to jump out to a 14-0 first-quarter lead. Owens scored his first career touchdown on a 19-yard run with 10 minutes remaining. The run capped a three-play, 60-yard drive that lasted just 1:08. Just over seven minutes later, Ohio had another three-play scoring drive. Huston broke off a 56-yard run to paydirt, ending a 62-yard march that lasted just 1:18.

    The lead became 20-0 with 12:09 remaining in the second quarter on a more traditional march. Ohio went 87 yards on eight plays, culminated when Jackson and Owens connected on a 27-yard pass play into the endzone. Kevin Kerr missed the extra point attempt, ending a streak of 11 straight in 2001.

    Ohio broke the game open in the third quarter. Huston earned his second score of the game when he scampered into the endzone from 23 yards out. Jamel Patterson added the final tally with a four-yard run later in the period.

    The Bobcat defense posted its best day of the season. It limited CMU to just 316 yards ? the lowest total of the season ? and only three points for the second straight year. Bop White made his 10th career interception (second of the season), while Eli Kiener recorded two sacks. Matt Weikert led the way with nine stops (seven solo).
