A member of Ohio Athletics’ student staff from 2017-19, Sarah Newgarde returned to Athens in 2021 as the Director of Athletics Communications and was promoted to the Director of Athletics Executive Operations and Football Communications in July 2023. She stepped into her current role, Director of Athletics Administration, in July 2026.

Currently, Newgarde works with the Director of Athletics on day-to-day administrative duties. When she was a member of the communications department, Newgarde served as the primary contact for the Bobcats' football program for four full seasons (2022-25), previously supporting Ohio's baseball and wrestling programs as well.

From 2019-21, Newgarde served as the marketing and social media manager for the Everett AquaSox, the High-A affiliate of the Seattle Mariners. While there, she managed all AquaSox social media platforms, planning the content and posting strategy from start to finish. She played an integral role in executing all sponsored content, highlighted by designing and publishing five gameday guides throughout the season. Additionally, Newgarde served as the AquaSox’s webmaster, helping guide the team through multiple website rebuilds. While living in the Pacific Northwest, Newgarde attended as many Mariners games as she could, including Felix Hernandez’s last game in Seattle.

Newgarde is a two-time Bobcat, graduating from Ohio University in 2019 with a BSJ of Strategic Communication and again in 2025 with a Master’s in Sports Administration.

A proud New Jersey native, Newgarde currently resides in Athens. Her favorite sporting event is the Women’s College World Series.
