Rick Callebs

Rick Callebs was named Ohio University's Assistant Cheerleading Coach in February 2018.  

Callebs previously served for four years as the Head Cheerleading Coach at the University of Rio Grande in Rio Grande, Ohio. He was a nationally certified competition judge for Cheer Ltd. and was employed by the Universal Cheerleaders Association, traveling with cheer camp instructional staff during the summer and providing medical care and logistics for the National College and High School Cheer and Dance Team Championships. Callebs maintains cheer coach safety certifications through USA Cheer and is also certified for high school coaching through the National Federation of State High School Associations. 

Callebs is a graduate of the University of Rio Grande, earning his bachelor's degree in public administration in 2011. He is an Ohio licensed Paramedic with over 40 years of service. Rick managed Athens County EMS as the Chief and Director from 2012 until his retirement in 2023.  He is married to his wife, Ann-Marie. They have two sons, Bryan and Jay. Bryan is a 2020 graduate of Ohio University with a degree in Integrated Social Studies. He was a five-year member of the Marching 110. Jay is a graduate of the Recording Workshop (RecW) in Chillicothe and works as a sound and lighting engineer and event manager for music and theater venues.
