Nina Thompson (nee Kelly) is entering her first year at Ohio University and the Division of Physical Therapy in the College of Health and Sciences and Professions.
Thompson previously worked for USA- Gymnastics as a medical provider. She served as medical support to rhythmic gymnasts at the USA Gymnastics Championships in Des Moines, Iowa and at the Olympic Training Camp in Lake Placid, N.Y. in Nov. 2022. Thompson is also set to travel to the Pan American Championships as a staff physical therapist in June 2023.
Thompson also worked at the Cleveland Clinic from 2021-22, where she evaluated and treated complex orthopedic sports patient populations. While there, she acted as member of the Performing Arts SIG and led virtual conference on gymnastics.
From Feb.-April 2018, Thompson worked in the FAU training room as well as the Boca Raton Regional- Gloria Drummond Rehabilitation center. While there, she worked with soccer, volleyball and baseball athletes from FAU and Lynn University. She also assisted in the FAU football training room and on the sidelines of FAU football spring training.
In the fall of 2017, she worked with University of Miami track, cheer and dive athletes in in University of Miami training room. Thompson also worked at Acute Care at South Miami Hospital, where she Evaluated and treated orthopedic and neurological patient populations predominately, as well as bariatric, cardiovascular, and medical surgery patients.
Thompson received her bachelor’s degree from UNC Chapel Hill in 2014 before graduating from the University of Miami Department of Physical Therapy program in 2018. From there, she entered the Ohio State University Orthopedic Residency Program and a year later, OSU’s AAOMPT Fellowship.
