Matt Nichols currently serves as the Assistant Coordinator of Athletic Communications, acting as the primary contact for women’s soccer, wrestling and men’s golf, while also assisting with football. He previously worked as a student assistant in athletic communications, providing statistical support for football, men’s and women’s basketball and a variety of Olympic sports. Nichols also contributed event recaps and feature content while assisting with football communications. He began working with Ohio Athletics in 2022 and gained experience across multiple athletic communication functions throughout his time.

A native of Clemmons, North Carolina, Nichols is a 2025 graduate of Ohio University's College of Business, earning a degree in Sports Management. Now, he is working on becoming a triple Bobcat through the MBA/MSA Dual Degree program. In his free time, Nichols enjoys playing pickleball with his friends and cheering on his favorite sports teams.
