John Bowman - a member of the Ohio athletic training staff since 1994 -currently serves as the Director of Sports Medicine & Athletics Health Care Administrator for Ohio Athletics.
Bowman, a 1987 graduate of Ohio and a native of New Lexington, worked with the New England Patriots before completing his master’s degree from the University of Virginia. As a graduate assistant athletic trainer at UVA, he worked with the Cavalier football and wrestling programs. Â
In 1989, Bowman became Wagner College's first NATA certified head athletic trainer and was promoted to Assistant AD for Sports Medicine/Compliance/Business. Bowman returned to his alma mater in 1994 to work as the head football athletic trainer. In 1997, he became Ohio University's third head athletic trainer. Â
In addition to his duties with athletics, Bowman is a clinical instructor in Ohio's College of Health Sciences and Professions. Â
Bowman and his wife, Lesley (Ohio '90) have two daughters, Kelsey (Ohio '17) and Lindsey (Ohio '19). Â
