ATHENS, Ohio – Ohio wrestling has added three-time All-American and two-time National Champion Dean Heil as an assistant coach, head coach Joel Greenlee announced today (July 8).Â

"Dean Heil has had success at every level of wrestling," Greenlee said. "He was an elite competitor in high school and college and has shown the ability to develop wrestlers as a coach. Dean will be a huge asset to our program, and we are excited for the future of Ohio Wrestling"
Last season, Heil helped lead a George Mason squad that produced one MAC Champion in Logan Messer and sent a total of four Patriots to the NCAA Championships, their highest total in 25 years, with all four advancing to day two of competition.Â
Prior to his two seasons at George Mason, heil spent time at Campbell as the director of wrestling operations and an assistant coach.Â
A former Oklahoma State standout, Heil is a two-time National Champion and three-time All-American at 141 pounds. The Brunswick, Ohio native is a four-time World Team Qualifier and 2016 Olympic Trials Qualifier.Â
Heil captured back-to-back NCAA titles in 2016 and 2017, as well as three consecutive All-America campaigns from 2015-17. He finished his decorated career with 116 wins, ranking 22nd all-time in OSU program history.
