Ohio Football Announces Updated 2027 WVU Game Date

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The Ohio football program's 2027 matchup against the West Virginia Mountaineers has been moved to Aug. 28 at Milan Puskar Stadium, as announced by West Virginia University Vice President and Director of Athletics Wren Baker (July 27).Â

Originally scheduled for Sept. 18, 2027, the game marks the second of a three-game agreement announced by both schools in 2021. The Bobcats hosted the first game of the series (Sept. 6, 2025), extending their home-game winning streak with a 17-10 victory. Notably, that matchup marked Ohio's second victory against a Power Four team in three seasons as well as its fourth consecutive season winning the first home game of the year. The third game of the series is slated for Sept. 1, 2029, in Morgantown.Â

Ohio is set to open the 2026 season on Saturday, Sept. 5 at Nebraska, taking on the Cornhuskers at Memorial Stadium at 12 p.m. ET on FS1. The Bobcats' 12-game slate features six games at Frank Solich Field at Peden Stadium, including four Saturdays. With first-year head coach John Hauser at the helm, Ohio is looking to continue its winning streak in Athens. The 13-game streak, which dates back to the 2023 season, is the Bobcats' longest home-game winning streak in program history. Notably, the program has won 40 games in four seasons (2022-25), 23 of which were on home turf.
