First Round Matchups Announced for 2026-27 MAC-SBC Challenge

CLEVELAND – The MAC-SBC Challenge – the fourth installment of a scheduling alliance in men's and women's basketball – will tip off on Monday, Nov. 2. The 12 Sun Belt Conference (SBC) programs will host MAC counterparts, while the 12 Mid-American Conference (MAC) women's teams will welcome Sun Belt teams.
The Ohio women's basketball team will host Louisiana Monroe and the men's basketball team will travel to South Alabama to open the 2026-27 season.
The second round, scheduled for Saturday, February 6, will feature Sun Belt women's teams hosting MAC opponents and MAC men's teams hosting Sun Belt opponents. Each MAC and Sun Belt team included in the MAC-SBC Challenge is guaranteed one home and one away game each season.
Scheduling assistance is provided by Ordinal Sports Group. In addition to relevant NET data, geography and frequency of past contests is considered in determining the matchups.
Each MAC-SBC Challenge game will be carried on an ESPN platform.
