Ohio Men’s Basketball Adds North Macedonian Guard Marin Petkov to the Roster

ATHENS, Ohio – The Ohio men's basketball team has added North Macedonian guard Marin Petkov to the roster for the 2026-27 season, head coach Jeff Boals announced today (July 16).
"We are very excited to add Marin to our roster, Boals said "He provides us with another experienced guard who is very skilled and productive. Marin has great size and vision."
The 6-4 guard most recently played for KKMZT Skopje Aerodrom in the North Macedonia Super League. During the 2025-26 season, Petkov played in 30 games and averaged 11.1 points a game, while shooting 45.1 percent from the field, 39.3 percent from three and 76.8 percent from the line. He also averaged 2.3 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game.
During the season, Petkov recorded 17 double digit scoring games, while scoring at least 20 points three times, including a career-high 26 points on Jan. 25 against Madzari, where he went 5-of-7 from three.
Petkov also spent some time with MZT Skopje Aerodrom in ABA League 2, where he shot 55 percent from three.
Petkov has played for the North Macedonian National Team since 2023. In the 2025-26 European Championships, Petkov played in two games and averaged 5.5 points in 12 minutes, while shooting 60 percent from the field, 33 percent from three and went 2-of-3 from the line. He also recorded four rebounds and dished out eight total assists.
